Administrative Procedures
MISSISSIPPI ADMINISTRATIVE BULLETIN
The Mississippi Administrative Procedures Law designates the
Mississippi Secretary of State's Office as the official registrar for the rules
of all state agencies and as the publisher of the
Mississippi Administrative Bulletin. Currently, more than 120
state agencies file their agency procedures and rules with the Secretary of
State's Office. Each state agency proposes its own rules and regulations,
seeks public comment on the proposed changes, and ultimately adopts the final
rules or regulations. This process usually takes several months.
The public, which is often affected by these procedures, has an important
role in this process. Citizens can voice their opinions regarding proposed
regulations by writing and providing comments to the state agencies.
However, citizens cannot comment on new rules or changes to existing rules
without knowing that changes have been proposed. By entering the agency
name in the space below, one can access all proposed rule changes and new rules
that have been filed by that agency for the month selected, including a brief
summary of each filling. You may also retrieve the Notice of Filing as
well as the full text of the proposed or final rules.
The Secretary of State's Office does not participate in a state agency's
decision-making process when it proposes administrative rule changes. The
final decision about whether to implement a new rule or changes to an existing
rule is entirely up to the agency making the proposal. If you need more
information about a particular agency proposal, or wish to make comments, please
call or write the agency contact person listed in the Notice provided with the
filing. Please do not forward comments to the Secretary of State's Office.
